Nikon digital cameras are well known everywhere. Nikon has come a long way with a unique history. Nikon came into the camera world quite recently. This the camera easily was considered one of the best cameras available as at the time. Nikon F single lens reflex (SLR) camera was launched in 1959. This made leaders of the Nikon cameras, having overcome Leicia with the Nikon F category.
Nikon made another great stride in 1980 by designing the Nikon F3 which was made for NASA astronauts for space expeditions. The camera was so accepted by NASA, that more camera designs were made for that purpose by Nikon.
In the 1990s, Nikon has been able to masterfully craft more SLR cameras. Using a camera under water seemed a tall dream until 1992 when Nikon digital cameras came up with the NIKONOS RS, which became world's first underwater auto focus SLR camera. Nikon entered the digital camera arena in 1997with the introduction its first digital camera, the COOLPIX100. Ever since, the digital camera world has Nikon at the top charts.
